Our new facility is equipped with a state-of-the-art digital x-ray machine, as well as a diagnostic ultrasound machine. These diagnostic tools allow us to look inside of your pet to help us understand why your pet isn’t feeling well. We use these tools for a variety of reasons, like looking for broken bones, foreign objects, or disease/tumors of the internal organs.
Digital X-Ray
Our digital x-ray system allows us to view a digital radiograph within seconds, without the use of a processor. The improved detail of the digital images allows us to form a more accurate and complete diagnosis. Since the images are digital, we have the ability to email the images to you or save them on a disk or external storage device.
Diagnostic Ultrasound
An ultrasound is a diagnostic tool for non-invasive, non-painful scanning of the body systems. This tool allows us to evaluate the architecture of internal organs including the liver, kidney, spleen, gallbladder, urinary bladder, and prostate. Many organs that are difficult to see on x-rays (like the prostate), can be easily seen with ultrasound. Ultrasound scanning has been used to diagnose many disease processes in small animals. An ultrasound exam can also be helpful on pregnant animals to determine the stage of pregnancy and the health of the fetuses. The typical ultrasound examination requires no sedation or anesthesia, and is easily performed on awake animals. Prior fasting or water withholding is not required.
